**Please Note: In-person space is limited. Only one Contractor representative may attend the CMS Industry Day in-person. Each registration will be verified with CMS. There is no limit to attend virtually.
Persons, who are not registered to attend this event in-person, will not be permitted access to the CMS Headquarters Facility and thus will be unable to attend the conference. Persons attending will be required to show a U.S. Government-issued ID, preferably a driver’s license, and are subject to a vehicle inspection prior to entering the complex. If proper identification is not provided, the visitor will be denied access. CMS is a tobacco-free campus and violators are subject to legal action.
Driving Directions
The CMS complex is within easy driving distance of Washington D.C. (35 miles), Philadelphia (100 miles), and New York City (185 miles). The Baltimore metropolitan area is served by a network of modern highways including the Baltimore Beltway (I-695), which circles Baltimore and connects with the Baltimore-Washington Parkway (MD-295), I-70, I-83, I-195 and the JFK Highway (I-95).
Southbound from New York City--Take I-95 South to I-695. Follow I-695 to Exit 17 (Security Boulevard West). CMS is at the end of Security Blvd.
Southbound from Central Pennsylvania--Take I-83 South to I-695 West towards Glen Burnie. Follow I-695 to Exit 17 (Security Boulevard West). CMS is at the end of Security Blvd.
Northbound from Washington, D.C.--Take I-95 North to I-695 West toward Towson. Follow I-695 to Exit 17 (Security Boulevard West). CMS is at the end of Security Blvd.
Northbound from Baltimore International Airport--Take MD-295 to I-695 West towards Towson. Follow I-695 to Exit 17 (Security Boulevard West). CMS is at the end of Security Blvd.
Public Transportation
Transportation to and from the CMS complex is provided by the M77 bus line and the Mobility Bus. Due to heightened security measures, the buses will drop passengers off at the CMS complex gates.
Identity Verification
The Real ID Act, enacted in 2005, establishes minimum standards for the issuance of state-issued driver’s licenses and identification (ID) cards. This Act prohibits Federal agencies from accepting an official driver’s license or ID card from a state unless the Department of Homeland Security determines that the state meets these standards.
Parking
Temporary parking permits shall be issued to all visitors entering the complex. These permits are issued by the Security Force at the gate and are valid for one day. Temporary parking permits are for the white-lined spaces, or in a State disability space with a State disability placard and/or license plate. The parking permit must be placed on the dashboard and visible from the front of the vehicle. It is recommended that visitors park in Lot C because of its proximity to the Central Building visitor’s entrance, in any white-lined spaces. Any visitor who has a handicapped placard and plans to park in an available accessible space should display their placard in conjunction with the visitor parking pass.
CMS' parking regulations are enforced by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Federal Protective Service (FPS) officers 24 hours a day and are applicable to all persons and vehicles parked at CMS Baltimore lots. FPS officers may issue tickets for illegally parked vehicles. In addition, the vehicle can be towed at the owner's expense and risk without prior notification.
Vehicle and Visitor Screening Procedures
Vehicle screening is conducted on all vehicles for employees and contractors not presenting a valid CMS ID, and all visitors not presenting a valid PIV card. All passengers in the vehicle are subject to these requirements. After vehicle screening, the officers will provide a temporary parking permit to the driver. The parking permit must be placed on the dashboard and visible from the front of the vehicle.
Screening procedures will require visitors to empty pockets, remove belts, hats, outerwear jackets (not suit jackets nor sports coats), and large pieces of jewelry and place in provided bins for x-ray screening. Small and loose items (e.g., purses, laptop computers, cell phones) will be placed in bins and larger items (e.g. computer bags) may be placed directly onto the conveyer. All items being carried into the building will require x-ray screening.
After all items are placed on the conveyer, visitors will proceed through the walk-through metal detector. If the detector alarms, a security guard will use a wand to clear the alarm. If that clears the alarm, screening is complete and the visitor may enter the facility. In the event that the wand does not clear the alarm, the security guard will physically check the area of the body where the alarm is located. Anytime there is an alarm over a sensitive area of a person’s body, the officer will use the back of his/her hands to clear the area. If footwear alarms, then footwear will need to be removed and placed in a bin for x-ray screening. Disabled visitors using a mobility aid (e.g. wheel chair, motorized scooter) that cannot pass through the walk-through metal detector will bypass the device and undergo screening by the officer using a wand and/or pat down.
Visitors will be issued badges and must wear their badge above the waist on the front torso, in full view, and at all times while inside CMS facilities.
Rules of Behavior
CMS is a tobacco-free campus and smoking is prohibited in all areas. All visitors are restricted to the first floor Central Building Lobby, Auditorium/Conference Center, and Lower Level Lobby/Cafeteria. Food and drinks are not permitted in the Auditorium and Conference Room, except bottled water or water in a sealed container.
CMS-badged Employees, CMS-badged Contractors, and Individuals in possession of a government-issued PIV or CAC card which has been programmed to allow physical access to CMS facilities are authorized unescorted access to CMS complex and are not considered visitors. All others are considered visitors and are required to be escorted and monitored at all times while inside of CMS facilities.
