Tyson B. Meadors, Director for Cybersecurity Policy, joined the NSC from the Department of the Navy where he most recently served as the lead of US Fleet Cyber Command Commander's Innovation Group. In that role, he led efforts to develop advanced cyber concepts of operations in coordination with national, international, Fleet, and private sector research, development, technology, and experimentation (RDT&E) partners in support of full-scope cyber capability development. He was also a pilot member of the Chief of Naval Operations Rapid Innovation Cell (CRIC), where he led groundbreaking, interagency cyber security research. Previously, he served as both a naval intelligence and surface warfare officer supporting operations in the African, European, and Pacific theatres. Tyson has a Bachelor's of Science degree in information technology and English from the U.S. Naval Academy, a Master's of Science degree in cyber security from the University of Maryland University College, as well as related diplomas and certifications from Old Dominion University, the North China Institute of Science and Technology, the Defense Cyber Investigations Training Academy, and the Escal Institute of Advanced Technologies (SANS).
