Mark Cather, Chief Information Security Officer at UMBC, has over 20 years of experience in higher education information technology, communications, construction, and security. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and has a wide range of engineering and management experience at various levels within an IT organization. In addition to his role as Chief Information Security Officer, he is also co-chair of the Internet2 End-to-End Trust and Security Working Group, a Cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert for the University of Maryland Center for Health and Homeland Security, a member of the University System of Maryland IT Security Council, and chair of the Maryland Research and Education Network (MDREN) Membership and Services Committee.
