Alice Smitley

Born and raised in Maryland, Ms. Smitley began her career at the National Security Agency as a member of the High School Work Study program. She has worked in various offices such as Corporate Travel, Corporate Communications, and International Relations. For the past 16 years, Ms. Smitley has served as the Department of Defense (DoD) Cyber Scholarship Program (CySP) - Program Director and CAE Cybersecurity Grants Program Manager, which is part of the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (CAE-C) program at NSA. Through her work with the DoD CySP and CAE Community, Ms. Smitley has helped to increase the pipeline of cyber-trained professionals entering and remaining in DoD's workforce. Recently Ms. Smitley has taken on the role of National Center of Academic Excellence K-12 and STEM Education Coordinator, working closely with designated CAEs to encourage STEM education outreach, with special emphasis on women and minorities in cybersecurity education/careers.
