Automated Movement and Identification Solutions (AMIS)
Product Lead
Mr. James L. Alexander assumed the role of Product Lead, Automated Movement and Identification Solutions (AMIS) in September 2012. As Product Lead, Mr. Alexander is ultimately responsible for the program's budget and contracts, while coordinating the work performed by staff at Tobyhanna Army Depot, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), and various other government organizations in support of the program's initiatives. He works closely with the U.S. Army G-4 staff, as well as the Program Executive Office Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS) headquarters office, to secure adequate funding to sustain the program. AMIS has a global footprint to ensure efficient premier automated transportation and identification Information Technology (IT) solutions in support of the war fighter.
Mr. Alexander began his Automatic Identification Technology (AIT) career as Product Manager, Joint - Automatic Identification Technology (PM J-AIT)'s Radio Frequency In-Transit Visibility (RF-ITV) Team Chief. As the RF-ITV Team Chief, he was responsible for providing global RF-ITV of materiel and equipment to the Joint Services and Coalition partners. He supervised the upgrade, implementation, and maintenance of the RF-ITV system. Three years later, he became the Deputy Product Manager (DPM) J-AIT, managing the day-to-day operations of the program office staffed by over 40 government and contract support personnel. He was also responsible for the establishment and maintenance of contract vehicles for the procurement of Automatic Identification Technology (AIT) products and services.
Mr. Alexander served 22 years in the U.S. Air Force and has over 40 years of supply chain management experience within the Department of Defense (DOD) and private industry. His diverse logistics background includes leadership and management positions in aircraft materiel support, vehicle materiel support, and logistics information systems. Since his departure from active military duty, he served as the vice president of a company that specialized in the exportation of propane gas equipment to the Caribbean and Latin America. Additionally, he worked as a Senior Logistics Analyst support contractor with the Air Staff at the Pentagon.
Mr. Alexander holds an M.S. in Program Management from the Naval Postgraduate School and a B.S. in Management from Park University. He earned an Associate Certificate in Project Management and a Certificate in Project Management from American University. His awards include the Commander's Award for Civilian Service, the Department of the Army Achievement Medal for Civilian Service, and numerous military awards and honors.
