The Summit will provide participants with information and resources on today’s vulnerabilities,
incidents, security lifecycle, risks and mitigations. It will also identify ways
everyone can work together to build a solid security foundation program to meet
future challenges and trends in cyber security.
The theme for this year’s United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Cyber Security
Summit is Progress and Change — Building the Foundation to Safeguard USDA
Information and Digital Assets.
The summit will be held on June 22-23, 2010 at the Washington Convention Center,
801 Mt. Vernon Place, NW, Washington D.C.
The Federal Information System Management Act of 2002 (FISMA), the National Institute
of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication [SP] 800-16, the U.S. Office
of Personnel Management (OPM) regulation 5 CFR Part 930, and the Office of Management
and Budget (OMB) Circular A-130, Appendix III, require all personnel with significant
information technology (IT) and/or information systems security (ISS) responsibilities
to receive annual specialized training. Attendance and participation in the training
offered at the USDA Cyber Security Summit general sessions, information sessions,
and workshops will satisfy the FISMA specialized training requirement.
