Purpose:

The Third Hemispheric Security and Intelligence Symposium is sponsored by the United States Southern Command, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and the National Defense Intelligence College as a forum to promote an informed and productive dialogue among senior military and civilian intelligence and defense officials from nations of the Western Hemisphere. Other nations with security interests in the region also participate.

The theme for this year’s symposium is “Hemispheric Security and Civil-Military Intelligence Partnerships.” The symposium will focus on the growing requirements of participating nations to seek a wider base of information to effectively confront complex transnational and regional issues, including those problems which involve greater cooperation between law enforcement, civil authorities, and the military. To generate the best possible discussion, the program includes presentations by intelligence experts, key government officials, and noted scholars from across the Americas and beyond.
