The 8th Annual Federal Information Security Conference (FISC) will be held at the Doubletree Hotel - World Arena in Colorado Springs, CO, June 3 & 4, 2009. It is commonplace among information security personnel that security should be considered an offensive measure rather than a defensive response to security threats that are encountered. This response must be well constructed and implemented in an agency before it can be considered a useful offensive measure, and even more importantly, it needs to be communicated effectively with management.
In order to effectively protect critical infrastructures, security professionals must protect critical information infrastructures from damage and secure them against attack. Effective critical infrastructure protection includes identifying threats to and reducing the vulnerability of such infrastructures to damage or attack, minimizing damage and recovery time in the event that damage or attack occurs, and identifying the cause of damage or the source of attack for analysis by experts and/or investigation by law enforcement. Effective protection also requires communication, coordination, and cooperation nationally and internationally among all stakeholders industry, academia, the private sector, and government entities, including infrastructure protection and law enforcement agencies.
Over the past 7 years, the Federal Information Security Conference (FISC) has identified the key areas of concern in Information Security and gathered experienced presenters to handle these topics. Please join the 40+ government agencies participating in FISC for our 2009 event.
