 Tracks
Send in the Clouds
Cloud applications, computing, storage, and security; O365; AWS
Whether for infrastructure, platform, or service, usage of cloud services is becoming more standard for Laboratories and Sites. Cloud services bring their own challenges – security, accounts, authorization, networking, monitoring, etc. Share with others how you are utilizing the cloud and meeting these challenges.
16 Tons
Infrastructure and client operations
Carrying the everyday operational load still takes up most staff time. To deliver new, there’s always a push for innovation and efficiency in infrastructure and operations. What are you doing in infrastructure and operations that could be useful to others?
Small Town Big Data
Data analytics, BI, and other big data topics
The massive amounts of data we collect is driving the need for data analytics. Whether for security or business intelligence, there must be more focus on understanding the data. Share with others your big data experiences.
Every Which Way But Loose
Policies, processes, governance
Governance, policy, and process are an important part of our business. They are required to maintain compliance with federal regulations, but must be implemented in such a way as to minimize adverse effects on research and the business. What is new in governance at your site?
Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Scientists
Collaboration, scientific software, communications
The Laboratory mission depends on science, and science has its own unique set of needs. Collaboration outside of the organization challenges traditional access and authorization methods. Supporting the researcher means supporting specialized software. Compute and storage for science can be vastly different than what is needed in the business. What special steps are you taking to support science?
Welcome to the Future
New technology
Can anyone ever keep up with new technology? What are you doing to evaluate and implement new technologies across your site?
Git Along Little users
Service desk, end-user computing, mobility
Whether due to diversity or the range of ages of our end users, there is a wide dichotomy as it relates to end user work practices. Some still want the old-fashioned email, others live by tweets. Some want to walk up to the help desk, others are happy with online chat. Some still like the traditional office, others can work all day from a tablet. How are you finding innovative ways to support your users?
Hello Darlin’
Networking and telecommunications
Networking and telecommunications remains the backbone of all our operations; nevertheless, that backbone must now be more mobile. More wireless devices, cellular service, and IP-based phone systems are now added to the stack. What’s new in your networking and telecom area?
All Kinds of Kinds
Anything that doesn’t fit elsewhere
If you’ve got something to share that just doesn’t quite fit anywhere else, this is your category!
Convoy
Communities of Interest
Communities of Interest discussions to be held as the last sessions of the day.
Something To Talk About

Representatives from the following Labs and organizations are engaged in the council, ANL, AWE, Fermilab, Information International Associates, Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab, Kansas City National Security Campus, LLNL, Nevada Test Site, NREL, ORNL, PNNL, Sandia and SLAC. Topics we have discussed include our engagement models, project pipelines, funding models, and organization structures.

If you are a BRM or just curious about the role, come and meet us, hear about the topics we have discussed and see if it is a fit for you.
