Language Education and Resource Center (LEARN) Conferences 2008/2009 -- Welcome!
PLEASE NOTE:
The Russian LEARN Conference has been condensed to three full days, starting Wednesday 22 July and ending Friday 24 July. The Conference Dinner and Closing Ceremonies will be held Friday evening at Spartacus of Durham. In this way, we can celebrate our accomplishments and enjoy each other's company; then begin our journies home the next morning refreshed and relaxed. These changes were necessitated/made possible by a few cancellations and by early Saturday departure plans by many participants – particularly from the West Coast.

Inaugural Russian LEARN Working Group Symposium

Wednesday, July 22, 2009 - Friday, July 24, 2009
Duke University, Durham, NC

Conference Theme:
Revolutionizing Learning Russian:
Language, Culture and Technologies at the Intermediate and Advanced Levels

The Foreign Language Program Office of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), the National Cryptologic School (NCS), and the Duke University Center for Slavic, Eurasian and East European Studies (CSEEES) are pleased to announce: the Inaugural LEARN Working Group Symposium for instructors of Russian, to be held on the campus of Duke University, Durham, NC, July 22-24.

The primary intent of the LEARN conferences is to provide language instructors working for the U.S. Government an opportunity to share their teaching expertise. While this will be the inaugural Russian LEARN symposium, similar conferences have been held in Chinese, Arabic, Persian Farsi, and Hindi-Urdu; the Chinese LEARN symposium will celebrate its fifth year in 2009. These conferences are an excellent venue for participants to exchange methodologies, technologies and experiences in language and Area Studies teaching, as well as an opportunity to network with colleagues from other federal government organizations, the military, academia and industry.
