Subject: 18Jan08: 2008 ANG Logistics Mega Conference Initial Announcement

Hello esteemed colleagues,

This serves as our official announcement of the 2008 ANG Logistics Mega Conference, to be held at the John Ascuaga's Nugget Hotel, Reno, NV, 14-18 April 2008. This conference will cover the gamut of All-Things-Logistics, to include meetings, briefings, and AFSC-specific workshops.

Our staff has been engaged with the several logistics (representing both the Aircraft Maintenance and LRS functions) Field Council Chairs, AETC personnel, HQ USAF functional POCs for the past few weeks coordinating what we hope to be an extremely useful and value-added venue for all AFSCs and ranks within the ANG logistics community. To this end, we have coordinated several training workshops, field advisory council meetings, and other miscellaneous conferences/symposiums aimed at providing a forum for training and cross-talk. Additionally, we are fortunate to have many Senior Leaders in the AF Logistics enterprise who will be joining us to share their perspectives on today's and tomorrow's logistics landscape. With so much of our ANG world related to logistics, LTG McKinley, Director of the Air National Guard, and ANGRC/CC Col Joe Lengyel, have also expressed their support for and desire to meet with you all and plan to attend our conference as well to speak to and meet with us all to discuss our many logistics issues.

Detailed agendas for the various councils and meetings will soon be posted to this website, but to give you an idea of some of the workshops and other discussions to be held at the conference, the Meeting Descriptions link to the left is available for you to review and determine who best from your organizations should attend this event. Upon review of the descriptions and target audiences, you will quickly realize that there are value-added workshops/conferences for most of your key personnel.

In addition, to give you an idea of the many logistics events, changes, and topics needing to be discussed and briefed, we've invited many key Air Force, Guard and Reserve leaders to meet and brief with us, to include senior leaders from the Air Force, AFRC, CENTAF, AFMC, and, of course, the ANG. We'll be covering subjects such as organizational changes, Mx Resource Management, GLSC (Global Logistics Support Center), ECSS (Expeditionary Combat System), deployment issues, council concerns, awards presentations, as well as a plethora of other topics and the hosting of many logistics related workshops. There's a lot to be done and a lot to be discussed - things and subjects we wish every member of the logistics community could experience. Unfortunately, we realize you will most likely not be able to release all of your key personnel simultaneously, but we highly encourage max participation throughout your organizations. LRS and Mx Commanders, senior NCOs, and other key logistics personnel that you feel should participate are most certainly invited and encouraged to attend. We also extend our invitation and welcome to any and all MSG and Wing CC's who would like to attend and hear these briefings and discuss logistics topics. We feel the information/training obtained at this conference will go a long way in improving day to day operations at your units and understanding between our many functions and units as to logistics needs, processes, and continuing changes.

We are most excited about hosting you and your troops at this event and pledge to make it a worthwhile investment of your time and resources. We hope that by consolidating these events in to an annual one-time/location, vice hosting them at different times/places throughout the year, we may be able to help you conserve resources in your severely constrained travel budgets while maximizing discussions and meetings with the many logistics leaders in the ANG and Total Force community.

If you have any questions regarding the conference in general, my POC is SMSgt Dave Hammett, DSN 278-8428, david.hammett@ang.af.mil. However, if you have questions regarding specific conferences/workshops/symposiums, please contact the "Single POC" of the event identified on the attached agenda. SMSgt Hammett, as well as all Single POCs for these events will be sending out periodic updates, information, and other items as required as we approach the conference dates. See you in Reno! v/r,

Rich
